    Hua Cheng had gotten used to the former battlefields of Xianle and Yong An being abandoned. He had, after all, set to finding, identifying, and vaguely bringing remembrance to the soldiers. Thus, he didn't really expect to be interrupted while excavating and searching for his own remains on the current field. Not that he in any way shape or form minds that interruption, when he realizes who it is.

Xie Lian's bad luck continues to mess with him; his maridians are still not working right after being forced back open, and nightmares of the past continue to haunt him. All of which leads to his declining health, both mentally and physically.

    And then Xie Lian sat up. His voice returned to him in full and he let out a guttural scream that had laid dormant in his chest for centuries. Gasping in the air that he so desperately craved and clawing desperately at the wounds that were not there and trembling from the cold that did not exist. Soaked from head to toe in sweat and not his own blood, his body trembling like a leaf in an autumn breeze. The god gripped his heart hammering in his chest as he curled in on himself sobbing into his knees as his whole body ached. Everything was still and quiet in the room, any noise felt fuzzy on the peripherals of his senses as the world slowly came back into focus.

    His citizens and kingdom are long gone. He was not dead. He was not bound. He was in a soft warm bed and there was a comforting hand on his back.

    Or Xie Lian has a nightmare about reliving some of the worst moments in his life and Hua Cheng tries to comfort him!
