Summary
The recent mournful cover that has settled over Yokohama was one that every member involved in the underground life knew about. The death of the infamous Demon Prodigy was whispered amongst the streets, circling the members of the Port Mafia as a weight lifted from their chest, yet let a blanket of fear settle over their hearts. What type of person is able to kill a demon?
The answer to that question, is the demon himself.
A second question raised through the faint mutters of the office of the Armed Detective Agency is, What type of person has the ability to bring him back?

Dazai let his eyes flutter close, and a feeling of comfort washed over him. It was unfamiliar, one that he hadn’t felt since the last time he was this close to Chuuya, but he welcomed it nonetheless.
“We haven’t done a lot of things in years.”

A soft set of footsteps echoed through his skull, and Dazai squinted at the blurry figure that had halted before him. The familiar wisps of ginger invaded his previously dull vision, and Dazai let a barely noticeable smile stretch across his features.
Despite the muted look in Chuuya’s eyes, Dazai couldn’t help but think his old partner was rather ethereal standing above him now.
“Ah," Dazai murmured, letting his hand fall limp to his side. He tilted his head as his smile grew.
"Am I dreaming?”

Summary
Chuuya’s chest tightened, and despite his scratchy throat, he let out a strangled sob and pressed his face into Dazai’s chest. “No, Dazai, no no, please—”
Shaky hands grabbed the back of a cold, sweaty scalp. Fingers tangled themselves through the blood-soaked hair and pulled tight, yet not enough to harm. Dazai didn’t like pain; he had said it countless times before.
Chuuya wasn’t conscious of how loud he was crying, but he knew nobody would hear him.

Chuuya walks in on a scene he thought he never would.

Summary
“I can’t promise anything.”
Chuuya was silent for a long time, staring down at him with intense regard. Dazai felt those piercing cerulean eyes sliding through his soul, poking and prodding his insides to find the core deep inside his chest.
“...You can promise me one thing, though,” Dazai suddenly said, his hand snaking around Chuuya so his palm was pressed against his back. Their other hands were still connected, lying helpless beside them.
“What?”
“When I die, will you look for me in the stars?”
OR
Chuuya meets Dazai out in the center of a silent field, and he joins his partner in gazing at the stars.

Summary
“If it got out that you covered for your partner because you worried about him, you’re reputation would crash and burn.”
As Mori etched over a fresh cut, Dazai couldn’t hold back the grimace. “I don’t care about him,” he whispered, scrunching his eyes as he clenched his teeth. He needed to stay present, or he would lose his entire sense of self.
Mori’s smile pierced Dazai’s skull like a laser. “Yes, Dazai-kun, you don’t. You always saw him as a tool, no? I was rather surprised when I heard you trying to shelter him because it was just so unlike you.”
OR
Chuuya makes a mistake on a mission, and Dazai decides to take the punishment for his partner. Later, Dazai finds himself being taken care of by a rather familiar face.

Summary
Dazai distantly realized that Chuuya hadn’t changed into his work clothes yet, despite it being rather late into the morning. Dazai could only assume he was holding his partner back from his duties yet again, and his lips curled in distaste.
“Stop that shit,” Chuuya muttered as he gently guided Dazai back into the bed. Dazai let his head hit the pillow with a soft thump and let his eyes snap back to their original position, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Dazai frowned as he felt the bed dip beside him. “You don’t have to stay today.”

Paranoia is sinking its teeth into Dazai's mind, and Chuuya is there to help. The two attempt to get Dazai's mind off of fixating on the past.

“I feel like I can’t breathe,” he whispered, his eyes blown wide. It was such a sudden development that it felt like he had been punched in the gut. He tried to suck in a breath, but his chest stuttered, and as he gasped for any semblance of air, an abrupt wave of dizziness crashed over him like an overarching wave attempting to drown him.

Dazai’s suffering from a sudden depressive episode. Chuuya tries to help out as best as he can.

Chuuya fell silent, and the room suddenly felt denser. Dazai didn't know why he felt so unsure of himself, but part of him believed that Chuuya would straight out admit his hate for him then and there.
“Yeah, I missed you.”
Dazai let a slight smile tug on his lips and leaned back in satisfaction. “Alright, maybe I did miss you, then.”
“Of course you did.”
“Shut up.”

“I love you.”
Dazai gulped as he tried to find deceit. He sat up and grabbed Chuuya’s face, turning it which way and that, trying to find that shimmer that indicated he was lying.
“I don’t believe you,” he whispered, trying his best to convince them both. “Say it again.”
“I love you.”
Something deep and painful swelled up in Dazai’s heart. He wanted to curl up in a ball, hiding this disgusting vulnerability from the world. He wanted to wrap his face in bandages and slowly suffocate.

Dazai doesn't think he deserves love, Chuuya shows him he's wrong.

There was a kiss placed on his head, and he froze. He didn’t remember the last time Chuuya had kissed him. The two weren’t affectionate, and whatever was between them was hardly even considered dating.
“I’m worried, you—” Chuuya’s speech faltered, and Dazai felt guilt seep into his heart. “You can’t keep doing this.”
“I said I was going to break you, didn’t I?”
