Espresso blinked. Then blinked again. Surely, his eyesight had been impaired from the hours he had been spending on his research. Perhaps his glasses had fogged up, causing a blur to obstruct his sight. Any explanation would be more reasonable than whatever his eyes were presenting before him.
And yet, even as he blinked excessively, even after he took off his glasses and wiped them off with the handkerchief he kept in his pocket. He still saw the young Gingerbrave stand before him. A small, swaddled baby in his arms.
“Gingerbrave,” he started, sounding as gentle as he possibly could manage, “what is that?”
“A baby!” The young boy exclaimed excitedly.Espresso, visited by the Gingerbrave gang, is abruptly tasked with taking care of a baby, a task his is ill-equipped for. And he is forced through learning the reigns of parenthood, as well as facing long lost memories- those he wished to rather not recall.
___This is a spinoff of my friend's Ancient!Affogato series!! You don't necessarily need to read the series to read this fic, but I would absolutely recommend it because it's amazing!!

Yosuke could only stare down at him, his silver hair as it tickled his jaw, the sight causing his knees to go weak. Everything felt so incredibly warm and simultaneously dangerous, terror ripping another whine from his throat.
He felt as if he could so easily scream and alert his parents or even grab his phone from his pocket and dial the police while Yu obliviously fed, but even those were beyond him in his adrenaline-drenched state. It hurt. Hurt like hell. But it was also something else. Something that made his knees shake and his breath hitch, not just from fear.
Yu’s body felt like stone. Cold, immovable… Not Yu.He didn’t even know if he wanted him to stop, or if he wanted him to do it right. Like he’d imagined, in the dark, a hundred guilty nights.

After years of legal complications, it's finally time for the reading of Manfred von Karma's final will and testament. In need of some moral support, Edgeworth requests that Phoenix supply his 'consultation services' and accompany him to the von Karma family estate in Germany (despite having been disbarred for two years and just about zero knowledge of inheritance law).
Sure, Phoenix had been expecting to deal with the ensemble of judgey relatives (not literally, thank god), jetlag, crushing homesickness for his daughter, and even von Karma's tragic interior design choices. A whole murder case, however? That he hadn't accounted for. (Which, in retrospect, may have been a bit of an oversight because he and Edgeworth really do seem to be magnets for this kind of thing...)
