Traces of Daniel still cling in his gums, rich and metallic. He can’t bring himself to drink anything else, the mere thought makes his stomach churn. Inside he is writhing with self-loathing; the guilt tears at his stomach lining like some bird, slashing its talons, beating its wings in a desperate attempt to be free.
Daniel’s tear stained face is burned to the back of his eyelids, and the very streets seem to echo his choked words. “There is no after, right?”
