It had been a year and a half since Jax abstracted. Pomni couldn't save Jax, but perhaps Abigail could save Leeroy.
From afar, Pomni keeps an eye on the two to ensure that Abigail doesn't repeat the mistakes Pomni had once made.

They sit on opposite sides. The soundproofing goes both ways, nothing coming in the closet doors aside from thin slivers of light from each slat, basking them in just enough to see. Jax grins at Pomni. “So… was that more cartoon logic at work? You tried to pick me?”
“Yeah, actually,” Pomni admits, unable to hold back a smile at the way Jax’s expression falters, not expecting her to admit it. “Seemed like a good place to talk.”
His shock seeps away into annoyance, rolling his eyes. “Boring. I’ve got nothing to talk about with you.”
“I think you do.”
or tonight's adventure is a classic slumber party and Pomni tries to use them to get Jax to open up. It doesn't go well.

Jax ducks her head, still staring at Ribbit out of the corners of her eyes, and for a long, long moment, they just look at each other.
In another universe, Kaufmo knocks.
But in this one…
Kaufmo doesn’t knock.
Jax says, “Thank you.”
It’s not a great day. But it’s better.
(a what if? for that scene in ribbit’s room. kaufmo doesn’t knock, jax doesn’t run, and ribbit doesn’t fade away. edited on 6/20 to include an actual summary instead of spoiler warnings.)

Summary
It’s bad to rile up the abstractions. Pomni knows that. But the creature just looks at her finger, going cross-eyed, before all the eyes move back to her face.
“And when I do find you again out there, which I will,” she swears, “I’m going to beat you up for everything, and it will hurt and it will bruise because we’ll have real blood and actual bodies, and… and you’ll take it, because I’m going to get you back for all the hell you put me through."
Pomni takes in a breath.
"And I'll finally be able to get to know you, Jax."

When C&A is forced to dismantle the Digital Circus after the press reveals the brain scans in their database were involuntary, the crew are given one final chance at freedom: every memory accumulated inside the simulation will be returned to their original hosts.
