Had Caitlyn told Mel that no one had struck her fancy lately? That was now an outright lie. Vi shook her head as she scrolled, trying to clear the sting of the loss and the twisting, heated memory of Caitlyn’s form against her rattling around in her brain.
It didn’t work.
It never worked.
Vi still remembered their first fight clearly, even years later.
The image of Caitlyn walking into the ring was still fresh in her mind: the shocking blue of her eyes sparking under the bright lights, her body slender, but muscled, her angular face stoic and focused, her mouth a harsh line across her face.
Vi had been worried she was going to snap her in half.
She scoffed as she remembered just how fucking wrong she’d been.
Caitlyn had wiped the floor with her. She’d had to work for it - a change from her other fights, Vi found out later - but she had.
After that, her training regimen was pretty much exclusively focused on beating Caitlyn.
