In between messages, she’d check the drawer and find it empty, meaning he was physically removing the notebook from his end, then sending it back to her. A vanishing drawer. Ingenious and tricky.

    So what do you do for work?

    Work is a boring subject. I’d far rather discuss your features now that you’ve told me you’re a brunette. Is your hair long or short?

    Long. Curly. Do you have long hair?

    I love long hair on witches. Gives me something to grab onto, if you know what I mean. Unfortunately for you, my hair is short and difficult to wrap around your fingers.
