Peter had just returned to the tower, chatting with Ned through F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s speakers while he whipped up a ridiculously over-the-top snack. How was he supposed to know the Avengers would be right there on the Avengers floor, doing Avengers-y things? Not at all Peter's fault, if you ask him.

Tony Stark hated meetings.
This was a well known fact throughout Stark Industries employees. There were probably more complaints made by business partners about Tony not showing up to meetings than there were fish in the sea
And this meeting was the most boring thing Tony had ever had to sit through in his life.
Until it wasn’t.

Peter was too tired for this.He was over it. He was done. He had a bullet wound in his side.
He also had two broken ribs, a fractured ankle and next week was finals week.Peter wondered what cosmic force kept fucking with him like this.

Peter gets injured on patrol and sneaks into the tower to patch himself up while he thinks no one is there. He is very wrong.

Peter always knew he wasn't the favorite; it was obvious.
He wasn't Harley, the one Tony went to the lab with and who went on patrol with him, nor was he Morgan, the one Tony always made time to play and have breakfast with.
He probably didn't even mention it to anyone outside the Avengers, and if they didn't live in the same tower, Peter doubted he would.
