And it’s the least he can do to repay a community that was gracious enough to welcome him, despite being a human. Even now, years after arriving in Origins, he still feels the need to pay them back for accepting him.

Except, he isn't their one and only, he's some other dimensions one and only Optimus Prime, and he isn't thrilled to be here.
Optimus Prime is very, very tired.

Hot Rod never saw the Autobots after he destroyed Nyon, he got scooped up by Megatron at his worse and twisted in to the worst version of himself.
Now tasked with ensuring the Autobots lose their CMO, he decides the best way to go about this is to take out his conjunx, Drift.
This is in fact, the worst way to go about this.
(alternate summary: Drift sees a rabid mech then looks around and asks "is anyone gonna help him?" then doesn't wait for a response.)
