He wouldn’t have expected it given his current circumstance of being strung up in the yard, crucified and on display for the entire marine base to mock and gawk at. Yet, even though his predicament couldn’t get much worse—having been beaten and starved up until this point—there was an irritating hope that presented itself in the form of a scrawny boy wearing a straw-hat. The fire crackles and flares behind the grate, and the gramophone continues to play quietly in the corner. It all fades into the background as Roy guides them both towards the chaise nearest the fireplace. It's a large, dark wood monstrosity with wide plush cushions and intricate spiraled carvings that comfortably fits two lounging people.
One hand in his and the other on his hip, Roy slowly walks him backwards in time to the soft rhythm echoing around them until his knees buckle, and then he’s falling back onto the velvet upholstery.

With his birthday feast fast approaching, and the kingdom preparing themselves to potentially woo the prince, Jack decides what better way to avoid a headache than to ask said Viking heir to be his betrothed to get suitors off his back?
The problem, of course, is that he didn't prepare for the consequences of doing such a thing. Or that the consequences might end up actually working in his favour.
