Summary
It's here again. The Quidditch World Cup, the most anticipated event for fans and players alike, once every four years. And this year, it means everything to one infamous James Potter, the star Chaser for Puddlemere United.
This is his chance, his once in a lifetime opportunity to prove himself and secure his standing in the profesional Quidditch world. And it certainly helps that he has been summoned no only to play for the English team in the Cup as a Chaser, but to act as team captain as well.
There's only one flaw in his plan. The Seeker appointed to the team is no other than Regulus Black. The star Seeker for the Montrose Magpies, unbeatable, and insufferable. And James hates him the most.
Or, it's world cup time, and it couldn't pass by without a Jegulus Quidditch world cup fic.

Summary
It was with smoke in his lungs and ash falling from the sky that Regulus wondered how deep the roots went.
How long had they been digging their gnarled claws into the world? Into him?
Regulus Black is weak. A Black should not be weak.
He dons his mask and does what he needs to in the name of a new world. He tries to ignore the prisoner in the cellar of Malfoy Manor. He lets himself hope, only on the darkest nights, that Sirius will be the one to kill him. His resolve wavers.
One wrong decision. A life for a life, an unpaid debt. To build a new world, he'll need to tear this one out from the roots.

He grimaced involuntarily as he spotted today's edition of the Daily Prophet at the head of the table. Squib Rights marches face criticism from conservatives in light of the ongoing unrest.
His lips curled in disdain as a wave of shame washed over him. Even over a year after his family had first started grouping him in with them, he didn't find much comfort in the squibs that were plastered across various newspapers, screaming and holding up signs with demands, like they were any useful in wizarding society.
