“But we are not a couple,” Wednesday flatly replied, remaining unmoved. Enid sighed, then squatted down in front of her friend.
“We can pretend,” she sang with an upswing in her tone. “C’mon, you can’t tell me this wouldn’t be the coolest contest to win and that it’s not practically made for us! ... honestly, it’s not like we’d have to change all that much. Half our friends already think we’re dating anyways–”
“What–”
“And if we just told everyone we were, they would all totes be on board. Trust me they stan.”
“They what?” Wednesday was just as confused with the slang as the topic, but Enid stood up and continued as if she was keeping up.
“This would actually be a perfect way to come out as a couple. I could say that we’ve been keeping it under wraps since we all know how you are,” Wednesday stood up and followed her roommate as she began to wander during the explanation of what was unfurling into some sort of teen romance masterplan. “But since we wouldn’t be able to participate in this contest without everyone finding out,” she abruptly turned around, causing the follower to stop short, “BAM! Here we are, world!” Enid beamed.
Finally an adventure without bad guys or danger… or was it?

Summary
On a higher level, Enid knew that Wednesday was an alpha, which meant she would, of course, possess certain physical traits. But she didn’t make the connection in her mind until she could feel it literally pressing up behind her.
Enid supposes a part of this hyperfixation with the, not discovery, but actual association, stems from the fact that Wednesday does not display common or traditional alpha traits. Enid hates that she even thinks this way, and hates feeding into the stereotypes of what normalcy should be like.
The thing is, judging purely on the physical side—with the exception of a certain appendage she definitely now knows exists—Wednesday is an omega, through and through. That is, if you were looking at it through a stereotypical and purely superficial lens.
Or, in which, after Pugsley destroys a decent chunk of the Addams’ residence, they take this opportunity to do some redecorating. Upon recommendation by their mutual friend Eugene, Enid takes the project, not realizing it’s the home of her high school, kind-of, crush.

When she explains the simulation, Acht seems to understand, but you don’t. You were a fighter, they tell you, not an engineer. You’re still a fighter. You don’t need memories to know how to use a splattershot or an octobrush.
At this point, there are three Eights: the octoling soldier, the Deepsea Metro escapee, and this new Eight. All three have put their heads down and pushed until they couldn’t anymore. The Eight you are currently is blanketed on all sides by people the previous Eight knew, but at least they make you feel safe when they smile. Maybe, hopefully, you’ll be able to become the person they remember again—or at least a close approximation. Being that Eight seems a lot nicer than the Eight you are now—which is a Nothing Eight.

Mostly because it feels so unromantic.
She wishes she could fidget with her fingers. But she also needs to look Miorine in the eyes, so she does. “Is it okay… if I kiss you?”

“Luz?” A quiet voice cut through her thoughts.
Her heart sunk, and she felt nauseous. It was Amity, who sounded especially shaky now, and scared. Guilt washed over Luz as she turned to look down over the edge of the top bunk.
“Amity?” Luz said softly. She almost forgot Amity was in the bed below her, and she started to silently chastised herself for not at least checking up on her. She was a terrible girlfriend, and Luz was the reason Amity was here (or so she felt), and she couldn’t even bother to talk to her.
“Can I come up there?” Amity asked gently, maybe a little awkwardly. Luz decided, that even if she messed up before, she’d make up for it now.
“I’ll come down” Luz decided, peeling herself up from the warmth of the bed, as she crawled over to the ladder and down towards the bottom bunk.
