Summary
The room falls into an awkward silence. Fount blinks, hoping it's a joke. His students love jokes, they think they can lighten the mood, keep the conversation going, help people relax. This guy probably does the same thing, right?... No, he doesn't. There is no laughter after the phrase, not even a short chuckle, and his lips do not tremble in an attempt to hold back laughter. He just smiles calmly, with such tenderness and sincerity that Fount can hardly believe that they are seeing each other for the first time.
