Summary
When Danny is sent on a quick mission for Clockwork to the future, he can't help but stop in to see what his archenemy, Vlad, is up to. He expects to find the man miserable, with fifty cats, soap operas on the television, and a receding hairline. What he finds not only freaks him out but also calls his entire existence and future into question. He most definitely did not see his future self coiled around Vlad in the thralls of passion. His confusion and anger come to a head when he and Vlad have a very life-changing conversation in the alley next to his parents' house. One thing leads to another, and before either can consider the consequences, they spend a very awkward night working out their differences... both being honest for the first time and finding in those moments of honesty, a place for understanding to start to grow.

Summary
Everyone has passed on, the old gang and all he knew seem so far away, having gone forever and left him behind. His soul aches and yet he finds himself numb. He's over one hundred years old yet looks so young and vital. Even so, his heart and core wither. As Vlad begins the process of pulling Danny back from the edge and giving him the love and companionship he craves, he plans to kill two birds with one stone and put to rest Danny's fears that Dark Phantom will forever haunt him.
"I promised you I would never let anything happen that would allow Dark Phantom to rise. I will keep my word and I will take care of you as I promised your mother and father. Until you are truly ready to move on, Daniel, I will guard your life, and I will do my best to help you find happiness again. I will see to it that you love me, and so...your heart will burn again with life. This faded half formed version of yourself will dissolve and I will bring back the man you truly are. I will save you...I swear it."
Little does Vlad know, there is more going on with Danny's fear of Dark Phantom and the loss of his family than Danny has let on.
