Summary
The regular exasperation flooded Cherry, but it was washed away in a moment by the sight before him. Joe staring at the moon lit water, the streetlight casting his side profile in a buttery glow. Suddenly all Cherry saw was the green-haired boy of his youth, his features softer, hair shorter. The thing that hadn’t changed was his smile, it was the same dimples, the same slightly crooked front teeth, the same scar at the edge of his bottom lip from the time he split it in a skating mishap. Cherry used to obsess over that scar, wondering what kissing it would be like.

But Fate has a funny way of twisting words and realities and in his sixth year, James finds himself accidentally falling for a different Black Brother. One who smells like mint and quidditch and leather and rain and that odd sweetness of crisp air. One who, despite being a year younger than James and Sirius, does extension potions with his other friends and gets stuck working as James' lab partner for the rest of the school year.
Of course, James is as oblivious to Regulus' feelings as he is to his own so Regulus doesn't have much to worry about. Or he would be if his friends didn't fancy themselves matchmakers.
