Summary

Summary
The second time Severus met Kasimir, the man was wearing a dress.
Severus didn’t recognize him initially as he entered the Hog’s Head—the willowy youth had let his hair down from the messy pile usually stacked on top of his head, secured in a bun. Instead, it spilled over his shoulders in smooth waves. He’d also shaved the ever-present stubble from his face and wasn’t wearing his reading glasses, on his face or perched atop his head.
And he was wearing a dress, of course.
It fit him well. Long-sleeved with a high neck, a loose fit skirt that fell to the knees, it wasn’t a particularly enticing ensemble.
(not that Severus was evaluating it thusly; it was merely an objective, distant observation, disentangled from subjective preference because Severus Snape didn’t have a preference, subjective or otherwise, for men in dresses)

The chemical compound for love is C8H11NO2 + C10H12N2O + C43H66N12O12S2, and yet no one has come close to synthesizing the universal smell of it.
Love like most things is, synthetic, manmade. Carved out of your own lives, in the conversations had and the glances missed. there is no universal smell to it, no touch, no look. It's synthesized in the mind, born out of your own experiences. Love is personal, it's natural but it's also made by your own hands.
Love is a chemical sequence, and Severus may have just discovered it purely by chance.
Or; Severus and Bruce in their past and present lives. All the missed conversations and meeting friends and family wrapped up together, intertwined. A sequence of events leading up to their entirety and then dragging them along. They are part of the pattern now.
