Jinshi wouldn't call what Maomao's doing enthusiasm, but insistence. An unrelenting desire of hers to be serviceable to him, one that makes his own yearning seem pale by comparison, though he could never make that point to her in words. He would have to live with actions, provable points in their time together that showed he understood her now, in ways he hadn't been able to before.

"Hmm?" Jinshi blinked, having forgotten she'd asked him a question, distracted by her actions.
Maomao pursed her lips to the ice cube fully, then brought it the short distance to Jinshi's. He inhaled sharply from the cold, but held still as she traced his own mouth with the quickly-melting ice. With a subtle press against the seam of his lips, Maomao silently encouraged him to open his mouth, and slipped the cube within, just enough for him to close his lips upon it without touching the skin of her fingers. "I said, shall I help you cool off, sir?"
Jinshi nodded, unable to speak as she intended, and swallowed thickly. From the corner of his mouth, dribbled a trickle of water that Maomao hoped was ice melt, and not drool. That would be too pathetic, even for him.
or, during the peak of summer, Maomao is summoned to help Jinshi cool down, but things inevitably heat up.

"A delivery from Miss Maomao!"
"Oh," Jinshi's palms itch. It was his turn to respond to her letter, but since he had just seen her that morning, he hadn't yet gotten the chance. It was unprecedented for her to send a follow up without word from him, so Jinshi surmised it would be some sort of clue to corroborate an unusual observation Maomao had made during her day in the city. She was usually good at relaying those sorts of things to him, when necessary. It was certainly nothing more.
He unfurled the paper, pining the corners with his thumb and forefingers, to expose the message scribbled inside.
Saw this and thought of you.
"Is it a frog?"
