Leon’s expression turns into something he doesn’t particularly like, and something in his stomach twists.
“Do you think I’m hot?”
What feels almost like some kind of malfunction whites out his brain for a moment, and his mouth is open for far too long before he can piece himself together enough to dredge up a reply. Leon watches him silently the entire time, but he doesn’t have the mental capacity to worry about that as he considers his response.
“I don’t…I don’t know. Leon, I’ve known you since we were kids.” He finds it more difficult to speak, heart rate picking up as he sets his beer down and runs a hand over his face, the cool condensation a minor relief against his heated skin.
“Answer the question."
When Leon is left heartbroken by an ex, Chris finds he's the one Leon relies on to help pick up the pieces. But by doing so, their blossoming friendship might turn into more than he'd ever expected...

But Ghost didn’t seem to mind, quietly filling the kettle before setting it to boil, those dark eyes watching as John paced the kitchen, one arm flailing about in the air, the other locked tight around his half-melted pint of rocky road.
He told Ghost he was stressed. That the entire MacTavish clan was coming into town, which meant awkward hugs, judgmental stares, and nosy questions from people he hadn’t seen in years. John could handle all of that, he really could.
But what he couldn’t handle was the questions. Why he hadn’t settled down yet, why he didn’t have a nice Scottish girl on his arm.
Why he wasn’t married with a child on the way, because Ethel and James weren’t getting younger, and John was already too old. For fuck’s sake.
“Maybe I don’t want to bring home a wee lass,” John had snapped, voice cracking as he dug his spoon in harder than necessary, a brown, congealed clump of freezer-burned rocky road flying onto the floor. “Maybe I don’t even like women, has anyone considered that?”
And there, in less than twenty words, John had completely outed himself.

Marguerite's was in a nondescript, brown building from the sixties or seventies with blacked-out windows and a rusting sign. The only thing illuminating both the lot and the road were the security lights along the eave of the building. Darkness and the sounds of wildlife consumed everything else outside the circle of light; it made Ethan's stomach squirm.
His watch told him it was eight on the dot. There were a handful of cars in the parking lot–mostly trucks and one riding mower–and that was as much a comfort as it was anxiety-inducing. Turning off the car, he slid out of the leather bucket seat and hoped Heisenberg was the punctual type.Series

One night - the dog days of summer, he can’t sleep, no one in the entire city is sleeping, if the irritability of the precinct, the circles under everyone’s eyes, and the crime rate is to be believed - he gets up and goes into the bathroom. You’re almost asleep, drifting, but wake to Kim’s bare feet padding through from bedroom to bathroom.

Without windows he was unable to observe the darkening of the sky beyond the glimpse he had taken earlier during the day through his kitchen window, so he had only the ticking of redstone machinery, and the count of his own shallow breathing to mark the time.
The time between thunder rolls grew shorter, until he felt as if the world was nothing but this trembling. Himself, in excitement. The world, in temper. His wiring, humming faintly with the energy waiting inside to be leashed and sent sweeping out into the circulatory and neurological web of his Creation.
A light flashed over his head, a deep nasal buzzer going off loud enough that Etho flinched. But he held steady and fast, expecting this, and at the signal of the first lightning strike against the rod above his house, he slammed the switch down under his hand.
The body moved.
