Summary
What if the mortals asked so direly of the dark, it answered? What if fate had a Voice. The threads of fate bind her. Eventually they will bind her into the arms of the few whose future she cannot see.
“She is the darkness’ answer. Spun of the asking,” said the mother, “our thread. Destiny’s will. The mortals wanted to know what comes and wanted it so fiercely that the wanting took a shape. We found her at the between of spaces and planes, small and unfinished, and finished her.”
“She is the answering,” said the maiden. “Or she will be, when she is grown.” Now they looked at her, a fond despite themselves. "One day she will come and ask you herself. Be gentler than your nature, when she does."Eşté is older than the pantheons that named her wrongly, fifty times over. She has swept through history delivering tomorrow to the just waking world. A goddess of thresholds and red thread, courier of every answer except the one she refuses to ask.
(Truly a slow burn. It is literally 40,000+ words before they talk to each other properly.
This is an original character fic, but I often am equally looking for reader or OC fics hence the tags, apologies if you're not.)
