Aliénor thought this while ball was a waste of time and resources as well as a sign of just how desperate the king was becoming. It was hardly a secret he had been trying to set the prince up for marriage for quite some time and the prince kept rejecting all the ladies he proposed, the fact that he met whichever eligible lady at a ball instead of a meeting in the gardens was hardly going to change the inevitable outcome.
All of Aliénor’s predictions for the outcome of the ball went out the window the moment she arrived, though simply looking at her Aliénor could hardly fault the prince for falling so hard or so fast.

Summary
Disaster strikes the Hail Mary on its way back to Earth. The taumoeba escape their breeding tanks, and make it to the fuel lines. Stranded in space just outside the Tau Ceti system, Dr Ryland Grace can't do anything. He can't go save Rocky, he can't go save Earth. Exhausted, out of options, and distraught, he fills the ship with nitrogen, and takes his final breath.
Next thing he knows, his eyes flutter open in his San Francisco apartment. It's a year before ArcLight touches down on Earth, but he remembers the Petrova Task Force.

“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.
