Avery stared at his screen. The typical “You died!” mocked him, the King in Yellow himself laughed beyond the screen at the idiocracy presented before him. Avery was an idiot. He was a moronic, incompetent fool. An utter fool. “What’s in your inventory?” How could he be so stupid?! He was too stupid to solve the puzzles, he was too stupid to find Derek before Derek found him, he was too stupid to convince Derek to let him help, and he was stupid enough to think that would work. He was stupid enough to let his guard down like that.
He grieves and grieves all night and the next day. He misses work and excuses it with a cold. He isn’t making excuses, though, he actually got hypothermia. Someone decides to show up at his door with tea to help him get better and they BOTH end up in the hospital.
This new year brings many MANY new things into Avery Amable’s life, and he must learn that along with being kind, you must also be patient.AKA
