    This was the place where Logan came to be alone. It was his refuge from the bustle and noise of the mansion and his private little escape for when he needed some quiet but didn’t need to go live with a pack of wolves in Canada, or whatever the hell it was he got up to. This cabin was his place for a soft reset. It wasn’t where he came to forget, or to lose himself. Scott supposed a man like Logan probably tried to remember as much of the good in his life as he could, and the cabin was stuffed with it. He could have his quiet, he could have his little reconnect with nature, but he could do it while sipping instant coffee from a mug straight out of the mansion’s staff room, and looking at stuffed bear he’d won for a girl with a crush.

    Scott also understood that Logan was nervous. He was watching Scott take things in. Scott was the first person to ever visit here, one of few people to even know this place existed. They were going to be here together, all weekend, and Scott was notoriously picky and methodical and resistant to change. Logan had every reason to believe Scott would hate it here. Scott suddenly found himself determined not to.

     

    Scott and Logan spend the weekend in a cabin.

    “Thank you for being here,” Jean said, as the music wound its way to a stop and the people around them began to part.

    “Wouldn’t miss it for the world, Jeanie,” Logan replied. Scott entered their periphery and before Scott could take his place, Logan let Jean go and held out a hand to Scott instead. Smiling, he asked, “Whadaya say, Slim?”
     
    Scott stared at Logan’s outstretched palm as though the claws were extended and Logan was asking Scott to spill his own entrails. Jean nudged her husband - her husband! - with an elbow and nodded at Logan.

    “I’ll let you lead,” Logan added, mock-persuasive.

    “For once,” Scott grumbled, and placed his hand into Logan’s.

     
    Jean Grey and Scott Summers get married. Logan takes it surprisingly well.

    So well, in fact, that Jean sees a new possibility.

    “You didn’t used to be half-bad looking,” Wolverine comments to Deadpool as he blinks his amnesia-induced headache out of his eyes. He plucks a little orange rectangular device out of Deadpool’s pocket. “What is wrong with this thing?”

    “I dunno, but I’m sure they've got it more than handled. We were just well-armed chaperones.” Deadpool strolls past all of them into the abandoned barrack, looking around judgmentally as if it were a swanky hotel room. “I’ve got more pressing concerns, like, are you going to leave me for the younger, hotter version of me?”

    Wolverine sniffs a laugh, and Wade can practically feel his eyes land on him, interest and curiosity about a version of a man he already knows intimately swirling into something heady. He’s looking at Wade’s face, his arms, his hands, and Wade wants to know what he’s noticing, what experiences he’s comparing him to.

    “With how my effort has been wasted, I’m about to give up on him,” Wade fights past the giddy tightness in his voice and points his thumb at Logan, “For the older, hotter version.”
