It was a wild morning in October, and I observed as I was dressing how the last remaining leaves were being whirled from the solitary plane tree which graces the yard behind our house.
In the autumn of 1921, Watson is not as unwell as he has ever been, but nor is this quite the retirement he imagined.
Nevertheless, there's small gifts, and friends, and the love of a lifetime.

Falling behind on his rent payments and forced to rely on his increasingly exasperated brother for handouts, Holmes takes on a seemingly pointless case involving a burglary in which nothing is stolen.
But, when his pocket is picked, Holmes spots a business opportunity that might just help to revitalise his flagging fortunes.
