Ellie thinks back to the little diary stuffed in a drawer, out of sight but definitely not out of mind. The diary Maria gave her because we’re family now. She still can’t figure out why it upsets her or why she’s avoided it, but the gift takes on a new meaning now that she knows it’s a valuable tool in Maria’s arsenal.
Fiddling with her hands feels appropriate now, as she feels somewhat foolish and conflicted.
That little fucking book.
