It didn't matter if they were in Lungmen at the agency, or their private dormitory in Rhodes Island. He'd announce his departure, tell them not to wait for him for dinner, and would be out the door before a minute even passed.

Static flooded the screen briefly before stabilizing into grainy footage. Black Hat sat behind a desk unfamiliar to Flug, far plainer than the one he currently used. He looked…younger, in a way. Not physically, obviously, as Black Hat seemed immune to age itself, but still. Somehow, he managed to look younger anyway, less composed.
His expression looked irritated before the recording had even begun. “This recording system is embarrassingly primitive,” he muttered.
Or: the deeply concerning process of how the embodiment of evil accidentally developed an attachment to the strange little scientist digging through his archives.
