    “Three weeks,” Derek says.

“Still don’t want to,” Stiles says.

“I’ll pay you,” Derek says, and that… that has Stiles interested. Alf’s Antique’s may be a great job, but it’s not a high-paying job, and half of Stiles’s tuition is coming from financial aid, so…

“How much,” Stiles asks, “are we talking here? Because I know your family, dude. And it’ll be kind of awkward after.“

“My family thinks you’re some sort of fucking gift to the world,” Derek seethes, like he’s jealous, “they’ll probably be pissed at me when we break it off, so don’t worry about that. Five hundred bucks.”

“A thousand,” Stiles says, because screw ethics. Also, the Hale family is loaded. Derek can deal.

I read it some time ago, as far as I remember, in February 2013.

I truly enjoyed this story. I'm a sucker for 'fake/pretend relationship' as a main motive in my books/fics and this title was not an exception :P I liked it.
It was funny and engaging. Well written and interesting. Sweet in all right places and so on... ^-^
That was good, even if I was expecting more tension :P It has some flaws, but nothing is perfect ;)

Not my favourite Sterek fic, but one of the better ones.

It was nice to read a story in which Derek's family is alive. It's so much more positive than usual :)

On the bright, fluffier side, if you're wondering :)

Literally what it says on the tin. Spock's growing fascination with Jim, being more and more attracted to him as the time passes.
Very good. So nice and the dynamics is spot on.

    Bookmarker's Notes

    Re-read 6.01.2025

So apparently my memory is like a Swiss cheese, full of holes. I didn't remember anything about the fic back in the day, which is honestly surprising.

This story follows adventures of First Contact missions, with bad, good and better. Even if sometimes there's an occasional death of minor character. It shows the gradual changes of relationship between Jim and Spock, showing their friendship and then something more (even if they don't admit anything until the very end) grow.
It's full of humour and kinda ridiculous situations which made me smile like a lunatic.
There's an obligatory "they have had sex, but they don't talk about it" part, although it's never heavy or angsty. Kind of awkward and maybe a teeny tiny annoying.
They get bonded at the end and live happily ever after.

My original opinion, which I think was extremely unfair...

Quite nice, but I don't remember much. Nothing exceptional? I don't remember. Sorry.
Guess it's the classic "Spirk get together" with nothing to make you frown, but also not something you're gonna praise.
There's humour and fuzzy feelings, but that's about it.

    Summary

Jim Kirk, in his fourth year at Starfleet Academy, has to pass his required field training to graduate. With a science professor as his adviser, he's pretty sure he won't learn anything he doesn't already know.

But when he arrives on Kepler Omicron and the survival simulation becomes a reality, Jim is forced to make hard decisions as the situation spirals quickly out of control.

A story about survival and recovery.

Great story, but not for the faint hearted.

The first half is basically a story about survival when there may be no hope, and it's not exactly an easy read. While the tags give the reader a small warning (I would add there angst, imho), I suppose it's definitely more than that. This is trauma TM and the Author isn't playing around just for the sake of hurt/comfort trope. Nope.

Tbh, it was the second half that made me upset. After they get rescued...
I admit that it all gets explained later in the story and makes sense as a whole, but I just really don't enjoy reading about characters hurting each other (even if not on purpose and being completely oblivious).

The ending is very happy and sweet. It just takes them time to get there.

    SPOILER ALERT:
    ***
    - Jim and Spock having sex as a way of Jim hurting himself.
    - Spock not realizing that it's not how human relationships work.
    - Six months of separation, while they were recovering.
I believe I would accept the long time separation if they parted ways as friends, without getting into physical relationship. It really made me angry seeing them both hurting each other in such way.

    Summary

The Enterprise comes across a mysterious planet with a series of caves that manifest copies of loved ones. These copies are taken from a person’s mind to allow them to confront and heal the turmoil in their heart.

The copies are perfect replicas in every way, including their memories and personalities.

But Jim is shocked when a copy of Spock shows up professing love for him and while he had never considered falling in love with his first officer, this copy allows him to explore the possibility. The real Spock would never have to know.

The copy’s touch is electric and his body is warm and inviting, there’s just one problem, Jim doesn’t realize, it’s not a copy.

Authors note: This story is set sometime after the events of Beyond

There's a lot of tropes in this fic and it was something I didn't know I needed.

The description says it all, but if anyone wants specific, there's Kirk who's convinced he's talking and interacting with an illusion Spock (after the first encounter with an actual illusion). But after that first meeting and brief conversation, it's the real Spock all along.

There's pining, misunderstanding, angst and mistaken identity packed into one story. This could be very silly, but Author creates something more serious which can be even heartbreaking in one or two moments.

For some people there could be a problem with consent, given how Kirk is unaware that's not a made up Spock, but a real one. But somehow it didn't bother me at all.

    Highly recommend.
