Summary
T'Nedara looked like her mother for the most part, Vulcan physiology was dominant. But everyone that knew her and her father well, told her she took after him when he was younger. She had to take their word for that, as she only knew her father as an old man. He could be great fun and told great stories, but he did not have the enthusiastic and ever moving energy he apparently had in his youth.
Needless to say, looking like her Vulcan mother, people, both Vulcans and Humans, often misjudged T’Nedara. Today was going to be no different and instead of fighting it, she had simply decided to go along with the misconception.
She was beginning orientation at StarFleet Academy today. It was an illogical waste of time. She had practically grown up on the Academy grounds, her family home located only a few blocks away and her father a retired professor. But Star Fleet had made her do many ridiculous and illogical things in her short 19 years, this was no different.Series

Jim wrote a romance novel just to prove he could. Then someone leaked it on the public Starfleet server, and suddenly his embarrassingly smutty and sentimental Human/Vulcan love story is all over campus. Luckily for Jim, no one knows that he’s the author. Unluckily for Jim, someone forwarded the novel to the staff of the Vulcan embassy. Now, every Vulcan in San Francisco is reassessing the logical merits of taking Human bondmates.
Spock reads a Human/Vulcan romance novel because he can hardly avoid it. Suddenly, he is consumed by the need to locate the author, ascertain their wellbeing, and instruct them in the way of Vulcan mating bonds. Luckily for Spock, it doesn't take long to identify the author as Jim Kirk. Unluckily for Spock, Jim is unconscious and surrounded by interested Vulcans who also read the book.

Admitting to each other that they are in love is not an issue. The problem is revealing it to everyone else.

A single Romulan from Nero's crew survives, who is pulled through the forming singularity to approximately 13 years into the past. Aware that he could lose everything if he were to wait for his revenge, Nero decides to even the odds by kidnapping a young Spock and Kirk and deliberately sets about to change the time line. Meanwhile, scientists monitoring the anomaly that the artificial singularity left behind receive confirmation that a member of Nero's crew is alive and in the past. Uncertain of the impact upon their own time line or indeed upon the Federation of the (new) alternate time line, Starfleet Command issues orders for the Enterprise crew who are in their second year of serving together to investigate the matter by going through the anomaly.
