Having lost his home and hateful of the man in front of him, the lucky dog sinks his teeth in the gambler's outstretched hand, without knowing the odd price he'll have to pay for this act of defiance- and the many that will follow.Markus’ voice was rougher than before. "That composure of yours would be so entertaining to break down. I'd make you cry and I'd make you beg for more, Connor, you wouldn't know what hit you."
“Maybe I’d let you try,” said Connor.
Markus' eyes held a dark promise. Connor could feel that heat rising between them, could feel the warmth radiating off Markus' body, could feel the air moving with the rise and fall of their chests. Markus' fingers relaxed around Connor's shirt. Connor had expected him to grab his face or press up against him, but Markus pulled back. He swept his hands down his suit to smooth out the wrinkles, and calmly said: "Maybe later."
Connor couldn't stop the word from escaping his lips. "What?"

His first reaction when the backpack he’s carrying starts fucking wiggling is irritation. It wouldn’t be the first time some juvenile fucker riding high on their own importance because FEDRA gives teenagers guns and calls it a day tried to pull a prank. He can only imagine what it is this time. A fucking raccoon? Bag of snakes?
He slings it down, irritated, and freezes when he hears an “Ow!”

Summary
