Betsy frowned. Her mouth moved slowly, muscles fighting to shape what her mind already knew.
“Luh…”Carla leaned in as Betsy’s brow furrowed with concentration. “Luffff… mum.”
Carla’s heart twisted. “Oh, sweetheart.” She blinked hard and smiled, though it trembled at the edges. “She loves you too. Your mum loves you more than anything in this world.”
Betsy shook her head. The movement was small and uneven, but determined. “Nnnnooooo.”
