The young boy did not fully understand. How could he? Acknowledgement from evil-incarnate did not sound all too appealing. But Shinra was desperate, and a child. A devastated, depressed child who just wanted to live peacefully with his beloved family.
At the first hint of agreement in his mind, the being latched on, and without a single movement, began the transformation that would make Shinra a true embodiment of the names spat at him by his old town and anyone who had heard of his plight.

Arthur Boyle, age nineteen, fresh academy graduate and soon-to-be Fire Force trainee, had finally set off on his long-awaited journey.

Maki, Iris and Vulcan climbed out. Vulcan helped Captain Obi to lay Shinra down in the back before stepping away and picking up the boy. The rest got in as Captain Obi got in and drove as the speed limit would allow him too. The four stood still and watched the vehicle disappear out of sight. Maki turned to Lieutenant Hinawa.
