Summary
"I am the queen of spades, I am the wasp that stings, I am the dark serpent. I am the invulnerable animal who passes through fire and is not burned." - Elena Ferrante, The Days of Abandonment
Rhaella thinks perhaps the gods, any gods, have heard her prayers, when Aerys vomits up blood in bed. (Aerys dies before the 'trial' of Rickard and Brandon Stark can commence. In King's Landing, Rhaella at last finds her footing. On Dragonstone, Elia makes her preparations. And in the Tower of Joy, Lyanna comes to a series of cold realizations).

Summary
Perhaps all brothers are the same, thought Éowyn, looking at Elrond. I suppose I’ve always known he had a twin, but only just now did I realise it. Not because he looks like a brother, but because in this moment he looks like mine.
Perhaps that was what small, pointless memories, like the image of little Éomer and his three-legged wooden horses, did: twitch every now and then, to remind one of old lives and connect them to new ones. She would never have thought of the Lord Elrond and her brother Éomer in the same breath, had the lord not been sitting just so, his weary chin in a nail-bitten hand.
----------------
Elrond tries to indulge in a spot of misery before his daughter's wedding. Éowyn lets him do no such thing. An unlikely friendship is forged in a damp stable at the crack of dawn.Series

Summary
The history books will say that Éowyn was wilful but dutiful, tortured by her sadness but singularly committed to her king and country. They will say that her sadness, though understandable, was disproportionate; the trials she suffered in her own home were not so bad as all that: her king was good, her brother loving, her cousin fiercely loyal. They will say that the tragedy at the heart of her story was nobody’s fault, her pain was real, but its cause was amorphous, nebulous, nearly self-created.
This is the story the history books will not tell.
