They’d been having a moment, Sakusa could almost admit. Atsumu had been genuine, and Kiyoomi’d responded in kind to get that stupid guilty, sad look off his face. Then, Atsumu had to ruin it by saying something so incredibly dumb. And inappropriate.
Sakusa, in an attempt to completely avoid thinking about it, grabbed his novel from his bedside table, but not even that could distract him. After a few minutes, he resigned himself to his fate and clicked off his bedside lamp. He’d sleep this off, and stop thinking about the idea of kissing Miya Atsumu by morning.

Instead of getting hit on the ice, the Metros went on to win the game, and after setting up some plans with Ilya, the team ends up dragging Shane out to the bar. Shane was having a good time... until it all went wrong.
Or: Shane is assaulted, and Ilya is there to comfort him.

The kiss is chaste - Shane could almost describe it as shy.
A little curl of anxiety twists in his gut. What if saying I love you changes things, and not for the better?
The push, the pull, the rush of their harried days could certainly be the thing that kept Ilya attached to this thing of theirs. Shane’s already admitted that it hasn’t been about the rebellion of it all for him for a while - but Ilya’s made no such disclosures. A burning love confession isn’t exactly as electrifying as the thrill of the chase, after all - and - great, Shane realizes that Ilya came out of the shower to Shane doing the fucking dishes like some bland housewife instead of a sexy Casanova waiting to pounce him for what should be a manically sex-crazed weekend, or whatever.
Shane’s apt brain quickly concocts a secondary plan.
Because while Shane Hollander might be bad at relaxing, what he’s not bad at?
Being a freak in the sheets.
