  Summary

  Ellie is bored.

  She's been bored for quite some time, but she'd used Urban Exploration as a way to cope with that. This is all well and good, but one adventure and a run-in with some rusty metal later, Ellie realizes she needs safer methods of spicing her life up. Luckily for her, a travelling circus is in town, and it might just be what she needs to drag her out of her boring and disinteresting life.

  "Simon?"

  Fingers gently stroke over his cheek.

  “Simon… you need to wake up now.”

  He groans softly, face turning to tuck itself into her lap.

  “Mmmm… not yet mom… please…?”

  The fingers card through his hair, brushing it back and away from his face.

  “I’m sorry, my love, but… it’s time to go…”

  He scrunches his eyes closed as hard as he can, wrapping his arms around her hips and squeezing her tight.

  He doesn’t want to go.

  He doesn’t want to leave her warm and safe embrace.

  He knows it’ll feel like dying.

  He knows it’ll feel like giving up.

  Why can’t he just stay here?

  “Because you have to live, Simon. Do you hear me? Look at me.”

  She pulls her hands away, he’s no longer in her lap. He’s no longer in their room that they used to share. He’s laying on the floor, half submerged in blood that pours in from the walls, the ceiling, the floor. It bubbles and roils around him, coating every inch of his skin. He burns. He burns and burns and burns.
