rocky,grace(and adrian?) are all mates and go back in time. rocky so he can save his crew and grace so he can save his and they can all spend more time together. grace goes back and has hella amnesia. he mostly feels like he’s having migraines,visions and déjà vu. he’s also crazy Autistic+ADHD. he’s a mega cry baby(he can’t hop the crying and spits out what lines people will say right before they say them. people think he’s like prophetic.
stratt believes him abt being from the future. grace tells ilyukhina and yao about this. grace reuinites with rocky, adrian is there too and they will spend the rest of graces life after they solve astrophage on earth with him. maybe they won’t have kids this time?

Summary
Grace lives a long and happy life on Erid with his cluster-members Rocky and Adrian, until he passes at the age of 95. He wakes up to find himself back in his San Francisco apartment and has to face navigating the most difficult part of his life in a language he hasn't spoken in 60 years.
OR; After finding himself in the past, Ryland Grace has to try his best to keep his head down and figure out what he wants to do with his second try at solving the Astrophage problem and returning to his family. He struggles with language barriers, culture shock, and worst of all: he never really recovered all of his memories from his first time on earth.

grace dies on erid, leaving behind 2 pebbles and 2 platonic mates. he’s back in the past a day before eva comes for him. grace doesn't remember how to act like human very well, he’s very eridian at this point. he’s deadass kinda forgot how to speak english. stratt has her as like incharge of all science departments. grace is currently on meeting and recruiting scientists onto the project.

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

like queer platonic soulmates(not soulmate AU) rocky/grace. grace time travels back to a couple weeks before mary’s launch. saves Shapiro and DuBoi lives,proves that he’s a time traveler to stratt, he voluntells her he’s going as the science specialist. grace packs a bunch of extra shit onto the mary,plants and animal sperm and eggs. grace also delays launch by a week so they can fix the nannybots tec so yao and Ilyukhina are alive.so much fucking yearing. crazy amount of interactive social media and news articles bits. really interesting eridian world building with built in wiki type word likes for different designation in words/pronouns.
must be reread read, the social media bits and news articles aswell as the eridian word nuances get mistranslated/fucked up in text to speech.

“Shut it, Abby, you’re gonna wake him up!”
Grace buries his head deeper into the crook of his elbow, desperate to get a few more minutes of sleep, the movement eliciting the noise of giggling from the room around him. His brain doesn’t register anything strange about the sound, until he remembers that he’s supposed to be in the middle of space. Space, where Grace should be completely alone, and Rocky should be well on his way back to Erid.
He jolts upright, suddenly far more awake. The quiet giggling erupts into full blown laughter, and Grace suddenly realises that he’s in his classroom, and the students laughing at him are the same ones he last taught fifteen years ago.
Son of a biscuit.
He’s on Earth again.
Or
Ryland Grace gets sent back in time and finds that getting launched into space is a lot harder when you aren’t being dragged there against your will.
