It’s been two months.
He can’t take it anymore.
It’s still early in the morning, but he’s already mounted on his bike, driving off into rural Wales. Or how Moony had described it: the intersection of nothing and nowhere.
Moony. His Moony. The fantastical boy whose entire existence had only ever been shown through smudged words on stained paper. A pen pal for a school project at age eleven that was supposed to last a semester and then be swiftly forgotten, but had evolved. Moony was a fixed point in Sirius’ life. The anchor that kept him in order through all the shit and pain he’d dealt with.
The boy who hadn’t answered any of these dozen letters in the last two months.

Sirius hated himself for not letting go. He needed to let go. He had to. He had no rights to force Remus into something he didn’t want. Here he went again, hurting Remus because he couldn’t stop himself from taking it too far.
Thus he halted, as abruptly as he could, wrecked and broken.
