Summary
It hits Simon, on a random afternoon when the artificial sun is hiding behind the clouds, that he misses his mom.
He’s in the bathroom when he feels it, washing his hands and looking at half of himself in the mirror again. It’s not an entirely new feeling; grief is something he constantly carries, like a small ache beneath his ribcage. What he realizes is new is the absence of things that were once fact. Once he had known the curve of her smile, the scent of her perfume in the air, her hair in his hands; now, he can only distantly recall how she looked.

“Are you able to work with someone who has been previously incarcerated?”
A TEACHER ALTERNATE UNIVERSE!
Grace is just trying to get his life back on course, and Simon is just trying to stay out of prison. When their worlds collide at GCMS, the two of them get a whole lot more than they bargained for.
Featuring: Stratt's Vat as teachers, Rocky & Adrian being the best wing-people alive, the Grace-Gentry brothers being emotionally incompetent, healing through love and community, and a whole lot of very competitive game nights. (Also, some very cute service dogs.)

Summary
The Eridians had made little sense of it when it was first detected, resonating from within an astrological body only a fragment of light years away that had—apparently, impossibly—not been there before. A crooked moon with no star, they’d said. No planet. And, from it, this little noise that had reached the Eridian transmitters, quick as a heartbeat. Staggering like a gasp of breath.
A sign of life, crying out into the universe for help.
And Dr. Ryland Grace, in all his cosmic stupidity, followed it.

Summary
“Simon?” Grace tries out the name, the syllables rolling of his tongue. To his surprise, Simon looks up. He looks scared and confused, regardless of how harsh his bark may come off or unnatural his eyes are. Grace longs to help him.
“Can you c’mere, please? So I can show you proof I’m not lying to you?” Grace asks with a new wave of patience. Simon looks away and doesn’t move, choosing to glare at the wall.
“I don’t bite,” Grace reassures.
“What if I do?” Simon warns, tone too soft to be threatening.
Grace sits down with a grunt, crisscrossed on the floor from where he stood with the laptop settled on his lap.
“Then that’s a risk I’ll just have to take.”
-Dialogue from Chapter 4
OR -
Ryland Grace has been living happily on Erid the past year, or so he believes. He loves his comforts and small wins of his everyday, but when he’s alone it feels as though something’s missing.
Maybe this hard around the edges and mysterious stranger, the only human he’s made contact with in years, will become a friend.
Maybe something more, as his foolish soft heart always holds onto hope.
Art now in chapter 5 as a treat while I write more ❤️
