After Golb swallowed all Simon had left, his love, and the crown, it felt like there was nowhere else to go. All ties to his previous life had died: he couldn't connect to any "humans" in this new world, and even his house wasn't his own.
But as much as he wished to have even a scrap of his old life left, when this wish was granted, it was the thing he wanted least of all.

It’s the fucking stubble, he thinks. It’s got to be, right? It’s the fucking stubble and that’s why everyone’s weird around him. It’s because they know that it’s not a good look and that they’re kind of weirded out at the fact that someone like Prismo can actually even get stubble (Finn had been drunk enough to ask the how and Prismo had been drunk enough to not give a fuck and not dignify him with an answer that would mostly be I don’t know, why the fuck do you have stubble, dipshit?) and that they’re too polite to say anything.
Why?
Because Prismo broke the rules and became three-dimensional for Jake’s funeral and Scrabby wasn’t sent after him even though everyone who wanted to know knew because Prismo didn’t try to hide it.
Why?
Because Prismo's bad at keeping time and that's a really big fucking problem.
Prismo, Prismo's grief that feels endless, and the things (people) that make a dent in it.
