    Summary

After the events of Twilight Princess, Zelda takes a surviving Ganondorf as a prisoner. Against her better judgement, she finds herself becoming drawn to her captor-turned-captive, and when an old evil arises in the desert, may need to rely on his aid or risk Hyrule falling to ruin.

    ***

“The Hero is gone. He followed Midna into the Twilight Realm. The Triforce of Courage is no longer in Hyrule.” Zelda laughed again. “You’ve lost, Ganondorf. You could not kill Link and so the Triforce is lost to you forever. You cannot kill me or you will live out the rest of your short life in this cell as powerless as a normal man. I am the only one who can free you so you would do well not to antagonize me. I suggest you begin by letting go of me.”
He gave her a look of such rage that Zelda thought she had misjudged and he would kill her anyway. Then he loosened his grip so she could pull herself free, which she promptly did.
“So what then?” he said darkly, bristling, “I am to spend the rest of my days in this cell, groveling to you in the hopes that you don’t decide to kill me after all?”
    “For now.”

    Summary

Every child in Hyrule grew up hearing stories of the Demon King.

No one could agree on what the beast looked like.  Some claimed it was a midnight blue, standing tall on two legs with its trident in its grip; others insisted it was green and scaled; still others said it was not beast at all but a great dark dragon.  Nor too could anyone agree on where the beast was sealed by the wise Princess Zelda of a thousand years ago and her courageous knight: deep in the belly of Death Mountain, in the thickest fog of the Lost Woods, even on an island in the sky above the clouds.

Only two things were certain: the Demon King was evil incarnate, and was especially disposed to eating misbehaving children; those that stayed up too late, or did not eat their vegetables, or were unkind to their mothers.  Every child feared the day the monster would break free from its seal, at least until they grew older and realized the Demon King was nothing more than myth and legend, a fairy tale as real as the Wind Fish or the Light Spirits.  A story to pass on to their own children, they decided, and that was all.

Queen Zelda was not so sure.

    Summary

Conservationist Zelda leads a small crew of dedicated individuals across the Seas of the Seven Sages, fighting to protect the many species that call it home. Aboard her ship, The Silent Princess, she is a force for good.

But there's another who patrols those waters -- and Captain Ganondorf Dragmire does not solve his problems with diplomacy and paperwork. Poachers find themselves running in fear of The Demon King and her monstrous crew, but few can avoid his wrath.

Zelda and the dark Captain have an understanding that floats just shy of romance, until he kidnaps her and whisks her off on a mysterious quest to save an endangered leviathan. Having to work with Ganondorf hand-in-hand for the first time, Zelda has to confront not only her feelings, but the moral code that comes between them. Killing poachers is easy. True justice is hard. And surviving the only man with the power to capsize her world might just be the biggest challenge of all.

“I would very much enjoy a chance to… study you, as it were.”

    He stared at her silently.

Zelda pressed on, mind already churning with ideas. “I’ve heard so many stories about you, and you sound… well, truly exemplary. It would be only for research purposes, I assure you! My study, that is. And you’d be quite compensated for it.”

    His brow rose higher.

“It may take a significant amount of time,” she added quickly. “We can agree upon a rate that you deem satisfactory. There may also be some, um, disrobing, required, but I assure you I am quite a professional and will handle it with the utmost respect!”

Ganondorf snorted. “You want to pay me to take my clothes off and let you handle me?”

The sound that escaped her resembled a drunken keese. “That is not what I said at all!”

    “That’s exactly what you said.”
