Maybe a little sad, or maybe Seokjin’s just reading into it too much. “It’ll be fun. Once a year, I’ll be there for you. However you want me.” He whispers the last part, bringing his face closer to Seokjin’s so that their foreheads almost bump, and the closeness is so discombobulating that Seokjin doesn’t even think about worrying if someone recognizes them.Seokjin swallows. “A birthday gift, huh?”
Namjoon nods, slowly. “If you want.”

“No! Stay!” Jin blurted out before he had a chance to think. Namjoon looked at him curiously, “It’s just, it’s late. You’re probably tired and came all the way here because I called you. So, just sleep here for tonight or something”
“That’s ok, hyung. You should spend some time with your best friend, you don’t need me hogging your bed or time. I’ll see you next time, yeah.”
With a flash of his dimpled smile, Namjoon was out the door before Jin had finished saying ‘okay’.

Seokjin pauses scrolling long enough to singe the hem of Taehyung’s Gucci pyjamas, feeling absolutely no remorse.

For two years, Namjoon harbored a ginormous crush on Seokjin. Unfortunately for the writer, though, for the past two seasons of the show they’re working on together, not once has the executive producer ever reciprocated his feelings.
Or at least, not until somebody offered Namjoon another opportunity in a new project, one that would take him away from the third season Seokjin already has planned. He didn’t want to do this, but Seokjin is left with no choice. This show can’t lose its backbone—he can’t lose Namjoon.

The advanced group is small, immuable. Namjoon’s been returning to the camp every year for the last five years and the new guy is the new first introduction to it since little Jeongguk three years ago.
The addition doesn’t really make sense, according to Namjoon’s calculations. First of all, adding one person will make their group an uneven number which is clearly impractical for table tennis. Their coach will have to play amongst them, which means he won’t be able to watch them as well as they usually do. Namjoon wonders if his father knows it. He doesn’t think he’d be too happy to learn that.
Aside from the number, there is the fact that the guy apparently doesn’t even play in a team, if at all. Namjoon isn’t here for kiddie camp, he’s here to improve. He cannot lose any time playing anyone too easy, even if destroying the guy might make him feel good the first two times. Namjoon is here to meet serious opponents. Namjoon is here to become a champion.
So yes, Namjoon is yet to meet that guy but he already feels really bad about the new year.
