But the thing about being trans was that there was no other side. There was greener grass, no happy ending, and no fucking pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It was just Ryuji and his fucked up body and his fucked up head. He couldn’t blame the world for not seeing a version of himself that only existed in fantasies he made up.
What the hell is the point in trying so hard when no one sees you the way you see yourself? That's what Ryuji always thought, anyway. It's easier not to try at all than to have your heartbroken when doing your best. Some people's dreams don't come true anyways.
