Jiang Cheng knew the stories of the mermaids. That didn’t stop him from swimming in the bay. Maybe it should have scared him, but it's not like they were real, all those sightings and stories were just made up. Plus it’s not like there’d been a sighting in years. Well except for Wei Ying, who claimed he was taken underwater by a merman. Sure he came home soaking wet with some weird markings but that didn’t mean it was true.
