"Lena was in love with Kara.
Simple, a short sentence really, a quick thing to say even. Lena had listened to herself say it multiple times when she was alone; “I’m in love with Kara.” She said it in front of the mirror, she whispered it in her bed with her eyes on the ceiling, she mumbled it under her breath for only her ears to hear when Kara would do about anything, she had shouted it once, alone on a hill when she was away on holidays, alone in front of the sea, and when a wave had crashed it was like the sea had said “I know”. And Lena had cried."OR

Summary
After Lionel dies, Lillian wants nothing more to do with her and Lena winds up getting fostered by the Danvers. After a year of living with them, Kara lands on Earth, unable to speak any English and Kal takes her to the Danvers who immediately take her in, no questions asked. Lena is drawn to Kara and they very quickly grow close.
