Summary
Maybe it was considered pathetic to be hung up on an ex-girlfriend like this, but when that ex-girlfriend was Joey Potter, Pacey figured the universe would grant him a little leeway.
And hearing from her, even if it was just her roasting him in emails, made the very long days at sea less lonely.

Summary
Rumi adds, dismissively sweet, "Do you even know your way around a sword?"
A beat.
To his credit, Jinu isn't always predictable.
Between one blink and the next, Rumi throws her blade up with a harsh clang! as a curved hwando comes flashing towards her throat, wreathed in sickly pink fire and little more than a wicked blur in Jinu's hands that flings up a spray of discordant sparks where it clashes against her own, sending a hard jolt through her arms—and Jinu grins down at her over their crossed blades, the tip of a fang peeking out crookedly over his bottom lip.
"I don't know," he says, eyes dancing. "You tell me."
Or: Rumi discovers that Jinu can use a sword. They unlock a new dimension to their fighting-as-flirting strategy.

Excellent Shane is a demon trope alongside slow burn Shane/Ryan, a good plot and a side helping of H/C. Really enjoyable read all round.

Summary
Sonny and Rico drive to the airport, and the future is an empty expanse, untethered from Miami and from each other. Sonny can't imagine moving forward without Rico, but he also can't seem to bring himself to stop his partner from leaving. Rico is tired of dropping hints and getting hurt, and can't imagine Sonny has it in him to say anything if he hasn't said it yet. If they're going to build a future with room for both of them, they need a miracle-- but more than that, they need to talk. (Illustrated, including an explicit illustration. Also, I promised it would eventually be happy. I keep my promises!)
The wrap-up to prior Vice fics, but works fine as a standalone so long as you're on board with the idea of Sonny and Rico being on-again-off-again throughout the course of the show.

Summary
After getting shot, Crockett reluctantly agrees to let Tubbs take care of him, despite his fears that he can't trust himself to stay faithful to his wife. With Caitlin on the other side of the country, he's forced to confront his feelings, the decisions he's made to escape those feelings, and how he's going to live with himself moving forward.
A continuation of prior Vice fics, but works fine as a standalone so long as you're on board with the idea of Sonny and Rico being on-again-off-again throughout the course of the show.

Summary
When Crockett finds himself with a plate full of cocaine in his face, Tubbs insists on following him home. A few weeks later, after Tubbs is injected with tetrodotoxin, Crockett refuses to let him go home alone. On both occasions, Tubbs thinks about his growing feelings for his partner, and eventually decides he may as well say something about it.
(Technically a follow-up to Ashes in a Goldfish Bowl and Gas Station Confessional, but makes sense on its own, too!)

Summary
The appearance of an old friend causes Crockett to spiral into depression, and Tubbs suspects there's more to the story than he's letting on. Whether he's muddling his own feelings into this mix is another story-- one he isn't yet ready to tell even himself.
(The events of Season 1, Episode 22, Evan, filtered through Tubbs' perspective.)

Summary
After making a failed pass at one of his fellow officers, Sonny Crockett tries to soothe himself with a stranger's affections, and he thinks about what (and who) it is he really wants.
(A short, angsty response to a particular sequence in the otherwise rather goofy Season 1 episode "Made for Each Other," in which Crockett appears to very blatantly proposition Zito, of all people. )

Crockett: "Hey, Lieutenant, we know this old bar down in the Keys..."
Castillo: "In the months we’ve worked together have you ever heard me say I need a drink?"
Tubbs: "Uh-ah."

Every Miami Vice Fan wonders what happened next.
