They’d always known, that one day, Mav wasn’t going to come home. It was as if fate had written it in the stars that Maverick was destined to die young because nobody flew like he did, took the risks he did and still got to live a long life passing away in their bed surrounded by family. It wasn’t who Maverick was.
Or, it hadn’t been.
A post-mission reunion, because Ice lives and everything is beautiful and nothing hurts.
