Or, Kokushibo takes Giyuu back home after getting injured during their outing. Once he was done making sure Giyuu was comfortable, he goes to put a few things away, only to stumble across something a bit more than shocking. Perhaps even a little arousing.

Before Runa could react, Marion placed the flower into her hair. A thorn cut into the side of her head, though she flaunted no reaction. She didn't bother to touch the warm blood rolling down her face, not daring to soil the gloves Marion had given her.
Marion eyed the trail of red.

He was baffled by the man's masked reaction. How could someone get so set off just seeing a pair of earrings?

No. That couldn't be. He had a demon slayer mark. He had a sword. He was in Giyuu's estate. He was friends with Giyuu.
The smell got stronger.

Or, Tanjiro checks up on Giyuu, only to find him relaxing with another man. They talk, before Tanjiro's suspicions are raised against the other man, who Giyuu says is his friend. All hints lead to him being a demon, but how could that be possible? It was unthinkable!
Meanwhile, Giyuu and his "husband", Kokushibo, have a soft conversation with each other after Tanjiro leaves. Almost entirely oblivious to his inner turmoil. -

Summary
Gary and Karl sorta scenario, but Giyuu is now out to basically kill Tanjiro because he's got the earrings and will prolly be a sun breather. That means he is a threat to Kokushibo (aka his closest friend) and therefore must be purged. He is plotting on the roof and Shinobu decides to momentarily interrupt.
(Note: this happens before Giyuu would've had the chance to get closer to Tanjiro)
