Vi’s new home–for the next few months, at least–definitely has more than a few stories to tell. She just doesn't expect the ghost of Caitlyn Kiramman to be the one to tell them. After a hundred years of solitude, haunting the halls of her childhood home, Caitlyn is used to being alone. At least she thinks she is, until the manor's latest pink-haired, tattooed guest changes everything.

Vi comes to a stop in front of a portrait of a woman standing with her back to the viewer, only half of her face visible over her shoulder. There is a hunting rifle in her hand, and a proud arch in her spine. There’s something about the woman’s expression that Vi can’t look away from–it’s soft, almost curious, but there’s an undeniable sharpness in her eye, like she’s staring right into Vi’s soul.
She’s also, at least from what Vi can tell by the angle of the portrait, exactly Vi’s type.
“Well, hey there, handsome,” Vi says under her breath.
“Good afternoon.”

She’s watched them for years. Always behind the bar, her hands busy and practiced with every drink she makes until the bar is sticky and covered with damp napkins. She can only catch glimpses of the stage from here.
Frankly, her job isn’t to watch. It’s to serve. To make sure the illusion so carefully crafted stays behind the smoke and mirrors. That their guests stay addled enough to think they can have the women on stage. Even if it’s just a taste. A mirage of delusions.
Vi’s never been tempted before. She knows the girls, jokes with them during rehearsal and backstage. Ruffles their feathers. Flirts and is flirted with. But never actually tempted enough to indulge.
She’d even made a rule for herself. Not that it’s hard to follow, but fucking a coworker is messier than she has time for. She isn’t going to shit where she eats, as the saying goes.
No, Vi’s never been tempted until the woman sitting atop the piano, pearls draped over perfect pale skin, marched into the Drop and demanded a job.
