Summary
When Tim first proposes his plan, Jason calls him batshit insane.
"Why?" Tim asks stubbornly. “It’ll be a win-win situation – I get a new life without some guardian tying me down, and you get a new life where you can eat food every day and live in a big house. You’ll probably have to go to school, but that’s the only downside I can think of. That, and pretending to be me, of course."

In the wake of Jack and Janet Drake's untimely death, Bruce sets out to search for their missing son, determined to adopt him. After a long, arduous search, he finally brings home a new addition to his family.
He fails to realise that the new kid living in Wayne Manor is not Tim Drake.

Summary
Jason Todd has been dead for almost three years now. Everybody knows this. Tim definitely knows this.
And yet here he is now, looking very much alive, three years older and approximately 200 pounds heavier, in the middle of lecturing a bunch of sophomores about poetry and having just introduced himself as their new English teacher.
Bullshit, Tim thinks.

Summary
Tim Drake never actually wanted to become part of the Robin-Batman-vigilante outfit. No, really. But the last Robin up and died, and now Batman is going crazy, and no one else is doing anything about it, so...Tim decides to become Robin. He might as well, right? At the very least it'll give him something to do while his parents are gone.
Still, Tim's not taking up the mantle until he can put a couple of things in order. Step one? Making sure the Joker can't get it into his head to kill another Robin. Not ever again. (Good thing Tim's not the one with a 'no killing' rule.)
And then after that? Well, after that it's only just a matter of keeping Batman from learning Tim's identity and subsequently chasing him off. Not until Bruce can get back on his feet and pick a new Robin, a real one this time. Easy-peasy.
Sort of.

Summary
Tim stumbled to his feet, grasping his fumbling fingers around the hilt of his knife, drawing it out while the man who had attacked him laughed.
Then, the man lunged towards him again.
Tim crouched under the man’s swinging fist, ducking under his guard and swinging the knife upwards for a strike of his own.
There – there was the moment where his brain worked faster than the motion, calculating the knife’s trajectory, knowing it would be lethal, but not redirecting the strike. A conscious decision.
The knife sunk into the base of the man’s skull.
--
or, one action is all it takes to set off a chain reaction, and Tim's night-time ventures into Gotham were bound to go wrong at some point. What starts off as a normal night ends in a murder, but surprisingly it's Tim with the blood on his hands.
