Kiera flinched when she felt the chill of the water at her feet, not nearly as warm as the hot, semi-acidic springs on Diabazaal.
Ever so slowly, she made her way into the water. “It’s easier once you get out deeper,” Lana promised, “then you can just float.” In the still shallow water Lana kneeled down until her mouth was just below the water’s surface and her long brunette hair spread out in a halo around her. Kiera stared down at her in awe.
Then, still holding Kiera’s hand, Lana pushed off further into the pool, leaving Kiera stumbling to follow.
“You alright?” Lana asked once they had waded out deeper and Kiera’s breaths were coming fast with panic. The princess calmly took hold of Kiera’s bicep and pulled her closer until Kiera was panicking for an entirely different reason.
“Yeah,” Keira breathed, gaze flitting between Lana’s ethereal blue eyes and her thin lips, now only centimeters away.
“Pretty, isn’t it?” Lana asked, smiling softly. But neither of them were looking at the crystals that hung above them.Or Lana is the princess of Altea and Kiera is sent to be her guard. Will they be able to defeat the challenges that come their way? Will they even be able to get along ;)?
