You give it. Just your first. You know they aren’t going to use it for your benefit of a decent, equal conversation—no, they’re going to try to find you, find a trace of you somewhere, figure out where you came from. Good fucking luck with that. Everything that might have helped them likely died away long ago. A century is a hell of a long time for public records.
“No last name?” she asks with a raised brow.
You shrug. Not anymore. Yautja don’t have last names; they have epithets. For all intents and purposes, the Yautja gave you ‘Ooman’. Human. Your first name and ‘the human’ tacked on the back. Very creative, but really, they don’t need much more of an identifier than that. There aren’t that many humans on Yautja Prime anyways, especially ones bound to their Elite hunters. Your name told a story, and your mate’s did the rest.
