23-year-old Cassandra Kiramman is studying at Harvard for her MBA as expected by her mother to take over the family corporation. Her only real friend is Reina, another daughter of a wealthy family yet who always seems to know everyone and loves to drag Cassandra to places outside her comfort zone. Places which Cassandra usually admits, grudgingly, to liking afterwards. Tonight sees Reina drag Cassandra to an underground art show despite Cassandra hating that style of 'art'. However, at the show, she and Reina discover a fascinating bit of art and chemistry and it's enigmatic creator.

Jinx, orphan of the West, making a name for herself since she was single digits and running with her sister, Vi. That is, until Vi got snatched up when Jinx was 12. For 7 years now, she's been robbing caravans, stage coaches, towns, anywhere and anything that catches her fancy. Her signature twin braids enough to make most freeze in fear.

It’s early evening and Caitlyn is back at her desk finishing up her reports for the day when Sheriff Grayson walks over and asks to speak with Officer Kiramman in her office. Caitlyn looks up and registers the carefully neutral expression on Grayson’s face and her eyes narrow. That means something happened. But what? Caitlyn follows Grayson to the office and Grayson asks her to close the door and have a seat. Sheriff Grayson has always been a straightforward person so she begins by telling Caitlyn that there’s been a double homicide, Mr. Jayce Talis and Viktor. Caitlyn’s blood runs cold and she remembers from this morning that Jinx said she had a meeting today with Viktor.

Six months. Six months since Aloy and Seyka parted after dealing with the final Zenith threat in the Burning Shores. Aloy returned back to Base to Beta and GAIA. Aloy, Beta, and GAIA were finally able to recapture HEPHAESTUS and reintegrate it with GAIA and begin working on fully stabilizing the planet. However, during the struggle to recapture HEPHAESTUS, there was a large earthquake that hit in the Lowlands. GAIA and Beta were studying the potential cause and current damages when GAIA notices an Old World power source still active, barely. A facility that GAIA had no knowledge of, not even with her fully restored database and APOLLO archives. And so, Aloy sets out on her Sunwing towards this mysterious facility.

Jinx flees through one of the ventilation shafts of the Hexgates, making her escape and making good on her plan to let her sister be free. She's sad of course but also, free. Finally, finally free. She slides down the shaft and reality seems to hiccup and she's thrown into some strange anomaly. She closes her eyes and shouts and things seem to freeze. When she opens her eyes, she's falling. High above Piltover, she's falling through the sky. Another anomaly appears in her path and she braces. She exits that anomaly and rolls through the street bouncing a few times and hitting a wall hard enough to crack the brick. She's dazed and has to take a moment to orient herself. Somehow Jinx finds herself back in the Lanes. She hears voices approaching and hides herself and then freezes, bordering on panic, when she sees who the voices belong to. A young Vi, Powder, Mylo, and Claggor.

For now, it's home, change, and find a real party. She takes her Ducati down to The Pitt in Zaun. Just her scene. As she's flirting with the bartender, a small force smacks into her and bounces away. Looking down to offer a hand up, Valerie spies a small figure with long blue hair tied into twin braids, cursing a storm and muttering.

A world where Vander and Silco lead a peaceful protest on the bridge only for an extremist faction of Zaun attacks the Piltover Enforcers setting off the violence that leaves Vi and Powder orphaned. The leader of the cult detonates a bomb on the bridge and chaos breaks out. Through the smoke and fire, Vander and Silco see a young girl, the cult leader's daughter, standing, emotionless, observing, before disappearing into the smoke. With Vi and Powder now Vander and Silco's responsibility, they set about trying to rebuild from the ashes knowing that another danger possibly lurks in the shadows in the form of that green-haired young girl.
